Introduced in 1986, the annual American Silver Eagle bullion program has become a cornerstone of modern coinage. This 2007 issue contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, backed and guaranteed by the United States Mint. The series spans from 1986 to 2021, celebrating classic American coin artistry on a grand scale. The obverse presents a graceful depiction of Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, walking toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge. This classic design was originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. Legible inscriptions on this face include the year 2007 and the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, John Mercanti designed a powerful heraldic eagle positioned beneath thirteen small stars, which represent the original American colonies. This design closely mirrors the Great Seal of the United States. The reverse inscriptions confirm the coin's weight and denomination, reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
