On the reverse side, a mother panda and her young cub are depicted enjoying a meal of bamboo. This scene highlights the natural behavior of these mountain-dwelling bears from central China, whose diet consists almost entirely of bamboo. The inscriptions on this face note the weight and purity, reading "1oz Au 0.999", alongside the denomination of 500 Yuan. The obverse features the magnificent Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's historic Temple of Heaven.
