The 2007 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, represents a modern continuation of one of America's most enduring twentieth-century coin designs. This particular issue is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the original details of the engraving just as they appeared when the coin first emerged from the coining press. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a design created by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" spans across the lower portion of the portrait, while the mint mark "P" is positioned just above the date. The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, features a detailed heraldic eagle clutching both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is displayed on a scroll above the eagle, surrounded by the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR." While the coin appears silver, its actual physical makeup is a specialized composite. The inner core consists of pure copper, which is then bonded to an outer layer made of a copper and nickel blend. This metallic composition has been the standard for circulating half dollars since the transition away from silver coinage.
