2007-W 1/10 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)
In 2007, the West Point facility of the United States Mint produced a special burnished edition of its tenth-ounce gold coin. This five-dollar piece is struck from 0.9167 fine gold, containing exactly one-tenth of a troy ounce of precious metal. Unlike standard bullion issues, this coin was minted with a limited distribution, resulting in a final worldwide mintage of just 22,501 pieces. The obverse features a classic representation of Lady Liberty, who stands holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This elegant figure is based on the famous early twentieth-century work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the reverse, a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek depicts a male eagle in flight, returning to a nest that holds a female eagle and their young eaglets. This side also bears the traditional national mottos, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
