In 2007, the United States Mint at West Point produced a special burnished version of its half-ounce gold coin, striking a limited run of just 11,455 pieces. This particular issue features a distinct matte-like finish, setting it apart from standard bullion strikes. Containing exactly one-half troy ounce of pure gold content, the twenty-five dollar denomination represents a fascinating blend of modern minting techniques and classic American coin artistry. The front of the coin displays a famous depiction of Lady Liberty, who strides forward holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This elegant figure is set against a backdrop of sun rays, with the word LIBERTY and the year 2007 clearly visible. The reverse side, designed by artist Miley Busiek, presents a family of eagles. A male eagle is depicted in mid-flight carrying an olive branch to a nest that holds a female eagle and her young. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the coin's weight and face value.
