The front of the coin features a portrait of Dolley Madison, designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. Her name, the year 2007, and the West Point 'W' mint mark accompany the image, along with the dates of her husband's presidency from 1809 to 1817. Beyond her role as a famous hostess, she actively rallied public backing for the historic Lewis and Clark expedition.
