2007-W 1/2 oz Gold Martha Washington BU (w/Box & COA)
2007-W 1/2 oz Gold Martha Washington BU (w/Box & COA)
In 2007, the United States Mint initiated a special series of half-ounce gold coins to honor the nation's First Ladies. This inaugural issue features Martha Washington, the country's very first First Spouse. Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, the coin is composed of half an ounce of highly pure 0.9999 fine gold and bears a ten-dollar face value. The obverse presents a portrait of Martha Washington. Legible inscriptions on this side include her name, the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year of issue, 2007. It also displays the dates of her husband's presidency, from 1789 to 1797, alongside the W mint mark signifying its origin at West Point. On the reverse, the design shifts to a scene depicting the First Lady focused on her needlework, sewing a garment. This side carries the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the coin's technical specifications, confirming its weight of 1/2 oz and its 0.9999 fine gold purity.
