2007-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PR-70 PCGS
The 2007 proof edition of the fifty dollar American Gold Eagle showcases a powerful blend of classic and modern American numismatic art. Struck at the West Point Mint, this impressive coin contains one full troy ounce of gold. Its proof finish highlights the intricate details of the engraving, creating a sharp contrast between the frosted design elements and the mirror-like fields. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty is depicted in stride, moving forward against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This design is a modern adaptation of the celebrated artwork created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the 1907 twenty dollar gold piece. The year 2007 and the West Point 'W' mint mark are clearly visible on this side of the coin. The reverse features a family of bald eagles, a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young await. This side also bears the traditional mottos 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' and 'IN GOD WE TRUST', alongside the weight and face value inscriptions.
