2008 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle MS-69 NGC (Early Releases)

0.5000 troy oz .9167 2008 NGC

The 2008 half-ounce Gold American Eagle stands as a striking example of modern United States coinage, carrying a face value of twenty-five dollars. Guaranteed by the United States Mint for its weight and purity, this coin contains exactly one-half troy ounce of fine gold within its composition of 0.9167 pure metal. On the obverse, the coin displays a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty. Based on the historic Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, she is shown walking forward with strength, illuminated by the radiating rays of the sun. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above, accompanied by the year of issue, 2008. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female and their young await. This side also features the national mottos, IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the inscriptions denoting the weight and the face value of 25 DOLLARS.
