On the front of the coin, Lady Liberty is depicted in stride, moving forward against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This powerful image is a direct adaptation of the celebrated early twentieth-century design by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The word LIBERTY is inscribed along the top edge, accompanied by the year 2008. The back of the coin features a detailed family scene created by artist Miley Busiek.
