2008 American Silver Eagle MS-69 NGC
The 2008 American Silver Eagle represents the twenty second year of the United States Mint's premier silver bullion initiative, which began in 1986 and continued through 2021. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this coin showcases two of the nation's most celebrated numismatic designs. Over time, these pieces may develop natural toning or oxidation, giving each surviving specimen a unique visual character. On the obverse, Lady Liberty walks gracefully toward the dawn, wrapped in the folds of the American flag. This iconic image is adapted from the historic Walking Liberty design created by Adolph A. Weinman. Legible inscriptions on this side include the year of issue, 2008, alongside the traditional motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse side features a powerful heraldic eagle designed by John Mercanti, closely mirroring the Great Seal of the United States. The central eagle grips an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons, holding a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM in its beak. Hovering above the eagle are thirteen stars, representing the original colonies that formed the nation. Surrounding the central motif are the legends indicating the country of origin, the weight of one ounce of fine silver, and the face value of one dollar.
