2008 Australia 1/10 oz Gold Lunar Mouse BU (SII, Colorized)
In 2008, the Perth Mint introduced a striking gold piece as part of its celebrated Lunar Series II. Minted with a limited production run of 23,317 pieces, this coin is struck in one-tenth of an ounce of highly pure 0.9999 fine gold. It represents a beautiful blend of traditional lunar zodiac themes and modern minting artistry, carrying a face value of 15 Dollars backed fully by the Australian government. The reverse side of the coin honors the Year of the Mouse with a detailed design showing a mouse nestled among small stones and chili peppers. To complete the theme, the Chinese character representing the mouse is integrated into the design, alongside the traditional 'P' mint mark of the Perth Mint. On the obverse, the coin displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Surrounding the royal likeness are inscriptions indicating the country of issue, the year 2008, the gold purity, and the official denomination of 15 Dollars.
