The 2008 Gold Libertad is a striking example of Mexican numismatic art, struck in one-tenth of an ounce of 0.999 fine gold. This Brilliant Uncirculated release is backed by the central bank of Mexico, Banco de México, and has a remarkably low mintage of just 2,500 pieces, making it a particularly notable issue within the modern Libertad series. On the obverse, the coin displays a detailed sculptural relief of the Mexican National Shield, an emblem of an eagle perched on a cactus with a serpent in its beak. This central image is encircled by the curved inscription "Estados Unidos Mexicanos," which translates to the United Mexican States. The reverse presents a dramatic composition featuring the winged figure of Victory standing prominently in the foreground. Behind her, the famous Mexican volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl rise into the background. The design is accompanied by inscriptions indicating the weight, year of issue, and purity, including "1/10 ONZA," "2008," and "ORO PURO LEY 0.999," alongside the traditional "Mo" mint mark representing the Mexico City Mint.
