In 2008, the United States Mint released a commemorative silver dollar celebrating one of the nation's most recognizable symbols. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 90 percent. The issue achieved a total mintage of 294,601 pieces, and this particular specimen has been certified in an exceptional Mint State 69 condition. The obverse side, designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart, features a dynamic image of a bald eagle gliding through the air. Inscriptions on this face include the date of 2008 and the traditional motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, designer Jim Licaretz recreated the very first Great Seal of the United States, which was utilized from 1782 to 1841. This historic emblem is accompanied by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination ONE DOLLAR, the mint mark P, and the classic phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM.
