In 2008, the Philadelphia Mint produced a striking tribute to the state of Oklahoma as part of the popular State Quarter series. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the crisp details of its unique design. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded securely to a core of pure copper, a standard composition for modern United States circulating coinage. The obverse of the quarter displays the classic left-facing profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Alongside this iconic portrait, the inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', 'LIBERTY', 'IN GOD WE TRUST', and 'QUARTER DOLLAR' are clearly legible, accompanied by the 'P' mint mark representing its origin in Philadelphia. On the reverse, designed by Don Everhart, the coin celebrates the natural beauty of Oklahoma. It features the state bird, the scissortail flycatcher, captured mid-flight with its long tail feathers spread wide. Below the bird, a field of Indian Blanket wildflowers blooms, symbolizing the state's rich landscape. The reverse is inscribed with 'OKLAHOMA', the year '2008', and the traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'.
