2008-W 1/2 oz Proof Gold Buffalo PF-69 NGC
In 2008, the United States Mint offered a unique variation of its popular American Buffalo series by producing fractional sizes for a single year. Among these special releases is the half-ounce gold coin, carrying a face value of twenty-five dollars. Backed fully by the United States government, this sovereign bullion coin contains one-half ounce of extremely pure 0.9999 fine gold. Its limited production run resulted in a mintage of just 12,169 pieces, making it a highly notable issue for enthusiasts of modern American coinage. The imagery on this coin is a faithful adaptation of the classic 1913 Buffalo Nickel. The obverse features a powerful profile portrait of a Native American chieftain. On the reverse, a majestic American bison stands in profile, recalling the wild frontier. Legible inscriptions on the reverse include the issuing country, the national mottoes "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM", along with the coin's weight, purity, and face value of "$25". This particular specimen has been certified in Proof 69 condition, highlighting the exceptional quality of its struck details.
