2008-W 1/4 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)
In 2008, the West Point facility of the United States Mint produced a specialized version of its quarter-ounce gold coin, distinguished by a unique burnished finish. This particular issue had a limited production run, with only 8,883 pieces struck globally. Crafted from 0.9167 fine gold, the coin carries a face value of ten dollars and represents a modern chapter in American coinage, combining traditional artistry with contemporary minting techniques. The front of the coin showcases a classic depiction of Lady Liberty, an illustration originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the double eagle coin. On the reverse, a detailed family scene designed by Miley Busiek unfolds, showing a male eagle in mid-flight hovering over a nest that shelters a female eagle and their young. Legible inscriptions on the coin include the country of origin, the weight and metal content of one-quarter ounce of fine gold, the denomination, and the traditional mottos "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
