2008-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold Buffalo PR-70 PCGS
In 2008, the United States Mint produced a special fractional version of its popular American Buffalo series. This proof coin contains one quarter ounce of extremely pure gold, refined to a fineness of 0.9999. Struck at the West Point Mint, it bears the distinctive W mint mark on its surface, indicating its origin. The government of the United States backs this sovereign issue, which carries a face value of ten dollars. The artwork on this coin is adapted from the famous Buffalo Nickel design. The obverse displays a detailed portrait of a Native American profile, accompanied by the inscription LIBERTY and the year 2008. On the reverse, a powerful American bison stands in profile, surrounded by the traditional mottos IN GOD WE TRUST, the country name, and the metal specifications of 0.9999 fine gold.
