2009 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle BU
The 2009 tenth-ounce gold coin is a brilliant uncirculated example of one of America's most recognizable bullion programs, which originally debuted in 1986. This piece contains exactly 0.1000 troy ounces of pure gold content, struck with a face value of five dollars. Backed by the United States Mint, the coin combines historical artistic traditions with modern minting standards. On the obverse, the design is a modified version of the famous early twentieth-century imagery created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It portrays Lady Liberty walking forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, set against the backdrop of the United States Capitol building. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, alongside the year 2009. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, features a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young await. This side displays the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 5 DOLLARS 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.
