This detailed scene is accompanied by the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark. On the obverse, the coin displays the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials appear below the neck. Surrounding the royal likeness are inscriptions indicating the issuing country, the year 2009, the face value of 1 Dollar, and the weight and purity of the metal, which consists of one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver.
