The 2009 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, represents a modern continuation of one of America's most recognizable coin series. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, allowing observers to appreciate the sharp details of its production. Unlike early silver issues, this coin features a modern composition consisting of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. The obverse displays a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, originally designed by Gilroy Roberts. The profile is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," inscribed across the lower field, with the mint mark "P" positioned just above the date. On the reverse, designer Frank Gasparro's detailed rendition of the presidential seal showcases a heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace.
