2009-W 1/2 oz Gold Margaret Taylor BU (w/Box & COA)

0.5000 troy oz .9999 2009 Brilliant Unc

This striking ten-dollar gold coin, minted at the West Point facility in New York, celebrates Margaret Taylor, the wife of the twelfth American president, Zachary Taylor, whose presidency was cut short by his death after only two years in office. Struck in a half-ounce of exceptionally pure 0.9999 fine gold, this piece stands out with its limited mintage of just 3,430 pieces. The obverse side presents a detailed portrait of Margaret Taylor, designed by Phebe Hemphill and sculpted by Charles Vickers. It is accompanied by the classic inscriptions of liberty and trust. On the reverse, designed by Mary Beth Zeitz and sculpted by Jim Licaretz, is a poignant historical scene depicting Margaret Taylor caring for a wounded soldier during the Seminole Indian War. This side also displays the coin's face value, weight, and gold purity, alongside the traditional motto of unity.
