The 2010 half-ounce American Gold Eagle stands as a striking example of modern United States coinage, carrying a face value of 25 dollars and containing exactly 0.5000 troy ounces of gold. This issue brings together two distinct artistic visions that celebrate national identity through powerful natural and allegorical imagery. On the obverse, the design presents a famous depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown in stride, moving forward with determination against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This iconic presentation is based on the historic 1907 Gold Double Eagle design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, maintaining a bridge to early twentieth-century American coin artistry. The word LIBERTY and the year 2010 are clearly legible on this side. The reverse of the coin features a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek, focusing on a family of bald eagles.
