2010 1 oz American Gold Eagle MS-70 NGC (Early Releases)
The 2010 American Gold Eagle represents the twenty fourth release in the United States Mint's premier annual gold bullion series. Containing one troy ounce of gold, this fifty dollar denomination coin is backed by the United States government for its weight and purity. The coin serves as a beautiful synthesis of classic and modern American numismatic art. On the obverse, the design adapts the famous walking Lady Liberty originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the early twentieth century double eagle. Liberty is depicted moving forward with confidence, illuminated by the rays of a rising sun. The year 2010 is clearly inscribed alongside this iconic figure. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a detailed family scene of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured in flight, carrying an olive branch to a nest where a female eagle tends to her hatchlings. This side also features the traditional mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the weight and face value inscriptions indicating 1 OZ. FINE GOLD and 50 DOLLARS.
