This impressive five-ounce silver coin represents the fifth release in the America the Beautiful National Parks series, an expansive program spanning 56 distinct designs. Struck in 0.999 fine silver, this particular specimen has achieved the exceptionally high grade of Mint State 69, featuring a Deep Mirror Proof-Like finish that highlights its striking details. The reverse side of the coin captures a majestic view of Mount Hood rising quietly behind the waters of Lost Lake, celebrating a protected wilderness area that has been established since 1892. Inscribed around this scenic view are the words MOUNT HOOD, OREGON, 2010, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the obverse, the familiar portrait of George Washington, originally created by John Flanagan, is rendered in a larger format than on standard circulating coinage. Surrounding the presidential bust are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR.
