2010-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PF-70 NGC (Castle Label)
Struck at the West Point Mint, this 2010 gold coin showcases a brilliant proof finish that highlights two of America's most enduring artistic numismatic designs. Containing one troy ounce of pure gold content, the fifty dollar denomination is a modern tribute to classical design themes. The front of the coin features an adaptation of the famous walking Lady Liberty design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She is depicted moving forward with confidence against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. The West Point Mint's distinctive "W" mint mark is visible on this side, alongside the 2010 year of issue. On the reverse, a highly detailed scene designed by Miley Busiek depicts a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle tends to their young. This side also features the traditional inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" along with the weight and face value.
