Struck multiple times to achieve an incredibly sharp level of detail, this one ounce gold coin from 2010 represents the pinnacle of modern proof minting. The United States Mint at West Point produced this piece with a highly reflective, mirror-like surface that contrasts beautifully with the frosted design elements. A total of 59,480 of these coins were minted for global release, each containing 0.9167 fine gold. The obverse features a legendary depiction of Lady Liberty walking forward, holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This iconic image is based on the famous Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The year 2010 is clearly inscribed alongside the central figure of Liberty. On the reverse, a family of eagles is depicted in a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight carrying an olive branch, hovering above a nest that shelters a female eagle and their young eaglets. This side also bears the traditional national mottos, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," along with the coin's face value of 50 dollars and its weight designation.
