2011 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle BU
The 2011 twenty-five dollar American Gold Eagle is a striking example of modern United States coining, containing exactly one half ounce of pure gold. With a mintage of 71,000 pieces, this Brilliant Uncirculated issue brings together two distinct eras of American artistic design on a single precious metal canvas. On the obverse, viewers can appreciate a legendary design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, illuminated by the radiating beams of a rising sun. In her hands, she carries a lit torch and an olive branch, representing both enlightenment and peace. The year 2011 is clearly inscribed alongside this iconic figure. The reverse side presents a detailed family scene designed by Miley Busiek. It portrays a male bald eagle in mid-flight, returning to a nest that holds a female eagle and their young. This side also features the national mottos, E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with inscriptions denoting the weight, the purity, and the face value of 25 dollars.
