The 2011 American Silver Eagle marks a significant milestone, representing the twenty-fifth anniversary of this prestigious annual bullion release. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this modern dollar coin is backed by the United States government, ensuring its weight and purity. The series itself has a long-standing legacy, spanning from 1986 to 2021. On the obverse, a classic design originally created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman shows Lady Liberty walking gracefully toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge. This side of the coin bears the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 2011. John Mercanti designed the reverse, which features a heraldic eagle inspired by the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle clasps an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left, while clutching a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM in its beak. Hovering above the eagle are thirteen small stars arranged to represent the original American colonies. The reverse is completed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1 OZ.
