This striking 2011 silver quarter, struck at the San Francisco Mint, honors the solemn history of Gettysburg National Military Park. Crafted in a Gem Proof finish from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Its mirror-like surfaces and frosted details highlight a powerful design dedicated to one of the most significant moments in American history. The reverse of the coin features the monument dedicated to the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry, located at Cemetery Ridge. This design serves as a poignant reminder of the Battle of Gettysburg, widely recognized as a critical turning point in the American Civil War. Surrounding the central monument are the inscriptions Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the year 2011, and the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum. The reverse artwork was created by William Cousins and Don Everhart. On the obverse, the coin displays the classic profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan.
