In 2011, the West Point facility of the United States Mint produced a special burnished version of its famous fifty dollar gold coin. This particular release is highly notable for its exceptionally low production run, with only 8,729 of these coins minted for global distribution. Struck on specially prepared blanks, the coin contains one full troy ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167, combining precious metal weight with meticulous manufacturing standards. The obverse of the coin features a classic depiction of Lady Liberty walking forward, set against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This design was adapted from the historic Gold Double Eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the reverse, the imagery shifts to a family of bald eagles, showing a male eagle in mid-flight carrying an olive branch toward a nest that holds a female eagle and her young. This certified specimen has achieved the highest possible grade of 70, indicating its flawless condition.
