2012 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle BU
Introduced in 2012, this quarter-ounce gold coin showcases a brilliant merger of classic and modern American design. Produced by the United States Mint at their West Point facility in New York, the ten-dollar denomination piece is struck in 0.9167 fine gold. Its physical presence and artistic heritage make it a compelling subject for study. The front of the coin features a celebrated design modeled after the famous early twentieth-century work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On this side, Lady Liberty is depicted in stride, carrying a lit torch in one hand and a peaceful olive branch in the other. The year of production, 2012, is clearly visible alongside this iconic figure. On the reverse, the coin displays a detailed scene created by artist Miley Busiek. This side depicts a family of bald eagles, showing a male eagle in flight returning to a nest that holds a female eagle and their offspring. This side also features the traditional national mottos, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," alongside inscriptions detailing the weight, gold purity, and face value.
