2012 5 oz Silver ATB Chaco Culture National Park, NM

5.0000 troy oz .999 2012 Brilliant Unc

This massive five-ounce silver coin brings the ancient architecture of the American Southwest into sharp relief. Issued in 2012 as the second release of that year's America the Beautiful series, the coin is struck in 0.999 fine silver with a substantial diameter that allows for an incredibly detailed presentation of its subject matter. The reverse side of the coin transports observers to the Chaco Culture National Park in New Mexico. The design features a detailed view of two elevated kivas, which are ceremonial structures, located within the Chetro Ketl Complex. In the background, the north walls of the complex and the natural canyon landscape rise up, creating a sense of place and history. This area served as a major cultural hub for the ancient Pueblo Peoples from 850 to 1150 A.D., and the site was officially protected when it was established as a national monument on March 11, 1907. Inscriptions surrounding the scene include "Chaco Culture", "New Mexico", "2012", and the national motto "E Pluribus Unum". On the obverse, the coin displays the familiar portrait of George Washington, originally created by John Flanagan. This side carries the traditional inscriptions "United States of America", "Liberty", "In God We Trust", and the face value of "Quarter Dollar". Although it shares the denomination of a standard circulating quarter, its impressive size and pure silver composition make it a standout tribute to America's preserved natural and historical wonders.
