The 2012 American Silver Eagle represents a modern continuation of one of the most recognized bullion programs in the United States. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this one dollar coin is fully backed by the United States Mint. The series itself spans from 1986 to 2021, making this 2012 issue a key representative of the classic design era before the reverse was updated. On the obverse, the design created by Adolph A. Weinman features a graceful depiction of Lady Liberty in motion, draped in the American flag as she walks toward the dawn. The inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "2012" are clearly visible on this side. This iconic image is paired with John Mercanti's powerful reverse design, which displays a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows. Above the eagle, a constellation of 13 small stars represents the original colonies, while the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is held in the eagle's beak. The outer rim is inscribed with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the weight and face value.
