Struck during the second year of its series, this impressive Armenian coin contains a full kilogram of 99.9 percent pure silver. Issued by the Central Bank of Armenia, the heavy piece carries a legal tender value of 10,000 Drams. Its production was highly limited, with only 2,449 of these large-format coins minted for the 2012 issue. The design on the front displays the official coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia. Surrounding this central emblem, inscriptions record the face value of 10000 DRAM, the year 2012, and the weight and purity of the precious metal. On the reverse, artist Eduard Kurghinyan captures a dramatic biblical scene. A dove carrying an olive branch flies in the foreground, while Noah's Ark floats upon the vast floodwaters behind it. In the distance, the sun rises over the peaks of Mount Ararat, creating a powerful image of hope and renewal.
