2012 Armenia 1 oz Silver 500 Drams Noah’s Ark BU
In 2012, the Central Bank of Armenia issued its second annual release of a modern silver coin celebrating a famous biblical narrative. This legal tender piece contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver and carries a face value of 500 Drams. The issue had a total mintage of 457,576 pieces, struck in brilliant uncirculated quality. The obverse displays the official coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia, featuring an eagle and a lion positioned back to back. This side also includes the year 2012, the metal purity, and the face value inscription. On the reverse, designed by Eduard Kurghinyan, a detailed scene illustrates the narrative from Genesis 6:1 to 9:17. A dove flies in the foreground carrying an olive branch, while Noah's Ark floats on the receding floodwaters in front of Mount Ararat, the peak where the vessel is said to have finally come to rest as the sun rises in the background.
