2012 Canada 1/4 oz Gold $10 War of 1812 BU
Struck in 2012, this sovereign gold coin commemorates the two hundredth anniversary of the War of 1812. Backed by the Canadian government, the coin is minted with a purity of 0.9999 fine gold and contains a quarter ounce of precious metal. The issue was limited to a mintage of only 2,000 pieces. The reverse of the coin presents a dramatic allegorical scene showing an eagle facing off against a lion, with a shield featuring a maple leaf positioned between them. On the obverse, a right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is displayed alongside the year of issue and the ten-dollar face value.
