2012-S Quarter ATB Denali Proof (Silver)
Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this 2012 silver quarter honors the vast wilderness of Denali National Park. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1808 troy ounces of the precious metal. As part of the America the Beautiful series, this proof issue showcases a highly polished finish that brings its detailed engraving to life. The reverse design captures the rugged spirit of the Alaskan wild, depicting a Dall sheep with the towering peak of Denali rising in the background. Formerly known as Mount McKinley, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America. The park itself was first established in 1917, later expanding in 1980 to encompass more than 6 million acres, a massive landscape where glaciers cover about 16 percent of the terrain. On the obverse, the classic portrait of George Washington is presented with a sharp proof contrast. The traditional inscriptions surrounding the president include Liberty, In God We Trust, United States of America, and Quarter Dollar, alongside the 'S' mint mark indicating its San Francisco origin.
