2012-S Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle PF-70 (Black Insert)

1.0000 troy oz .999 2012 NGC

The 2012-S Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle presents a captivating twist on one of the most recognized silver issues from the United States. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this particular edition utilizes a reverse proof finish, which flips the traditional frosted and mirrored elements of a standard proof coin. The result is a brilliant, mirror-like design set against a deeply frosted background, highlighting the intricate details of the engraving in a completely different light. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty walks gracefully toward a rising sun, draped in the folds of the American flag. This classic design by Adolph A. Weinman has been a staple of the series since its inaugural release in 1986. The inscriptions on this face include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year of issue, 2012. The reverse of the coin features a powerful heraldic eagle positioned beneath a canopy of 13 five-pointed stars, symbolizing the original colonies. The eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other, carrying a scroll in its beak inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM. Additional inscriptions wrapping around the rim denote the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the weight and face value, which read 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR. The prominent S mintmark is also visible, signifying its origin in San Francisco. Each coin contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, backed as legal tender by the United States government.
