2012-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PF-70 NGC (ER)
The 2012 West Point minted gold coin showcases a brilliant proof finish, bringing exceptional depth to two celebrated American designs. Struck from one troy ounce of fine gold, this fifty-dollar denomination piece carries the distinctive W mint mark, identifying its origin at the West Point facility. On the obverse, the design presents Lady Liberty in a dynamic forward stride, a visual concept originally created by Augustus Saint Gaudens. She holds a torch and an olive branch, set against a backdrop of rising sun rays. The inscription LIBERTY and the year 2012 are clearly displayed on this side. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, captures a detailed wildlife scene. A male bald eagle is depicted in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch as he returns to a nest containing a female eagle and their hatchlings. This side features the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the country of issue and the coin's weight and face value.
