The 2012 American Silver Eagle represents the twenty-sixth release in the United States Mint's premier annual silver bullion series. Struck at the West Point Mint, this modern dollar coin contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. This specific specimen has achieved the highest possible grade of Mint State 70, denoting a coin of flawless preservation and strike. The obverse displays the classic image of Lady Liberty wrapped in the folds of the American flag, moving gracefully toward a rising sun over a mountain ridge. Inscriptions on this side include the word "LIBERTY", the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the year "2012". On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle stands beneath a cluster of thirteen stars, which symbolize the original American colonies. The eagle holds an olive branch and arrows, with a ribbon bearing the phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Surrounding the central design are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR". Although struck at the West Point facility, this bullion issue does not display a mint mark.
