2013 1 oz Gold Buffalo MS-69 PCGS (FS, Black Diamond)
Introduced in 2013, this fifty dollar coin contains one troy ounce of exceptionally pure 0.9999 fine gold. Backed by the government of the United States, the coin is a modern tribute to one of the most celebrated eras of American coinage. It has been certified in outstanding Mint State 69 condition, indicating a strike of near-perfection. The obverse features a powerful profile portrait of a Native American, accompanied by the inscription of the year 2013 and the word LIBERTY. This design, created by James Earle Fraser, was originally adapted from the famous 1913 Buffalo Nickel. Fraser's work captures a timeless and dignified representation of early America. On the reverse, a magnificent American bison stands in profile. This massive animal is widely believed to be modeled after Black Diamond, a famous bison from the New York Zoological Gardens. The reverse inscriptions include the United States of America, the traditional mottoes of E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST, and the weight and purity designation of 1 OZ 0.9999 FINE GOLD.
