This impressive five-ounce silver coin belongs to the America the Beautiful series, celebrating significant national sites across the United States. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular version features a distinctive burnished appearance, giving the silver a soft, matte finish that highlights the details of its design. On the front, the coin displays the classic portrait of George Washington, accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The mint mark P is also clearly visible, indicating its origin in Philadelphia. The reverse side depicts Fort McHenry during a Defenders Day celebration. This historic Maryland fort served as a pivotal turning point during the War of 1812 when American forces defended the site in September 1814.
