This impressive five-ounce silver coin from 2013 celebrates the rugged landscape of Great Basin National Park in Nevada. Struck from 0.999 fine silver with a substantial weight, this piece belongs to the America the Beautiful series. It features a distinct matte finish, a result of a specialized treatment applied to the coin's surfaces after it was minted. This particular specimen has been graded in perfect Specimen 70 condition, highlighting the exceptional quality of its strike and preservation. The reverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of a resilient Bristlecone Pine tree growing amidst the rocky glacial moraines characteristic of the Great Basin region. This side bears the inscriptions GREAT BASIN, NEVADA, 2013, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the obverse, the classic portrait of George Washington designed by John Flanagan is displayed. Surrounding the central image are the inscriptions denoting the issuing country as the United States of America, along with the words Liberty, In God We Trust, and the face value of Quarter Dollar. A small P mint mark indicates its origin from the Philadelphia minting facility.
