The 2013 American Silver Eagle represents a modern continuation of one of the United States' most celebrated bullion designs. Struck at the West Point Mint, this particular issue contains one troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver. As a sovereign coin, its weight and purity are fully backed by the United States government, carrying a face value of one dollar. The obverse features the iconic walking figure of Lady Liberty, originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman. She is depicted draped in the American flag, moving gracefully toward the dawn of a new day with her right arm extended and branches of laurel and oak cradled in her left. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is visible alongside the year of issue, 2013. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle stands beneath a canopy of thirteen five-pointed stars, which represent the original American colonies. The eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, symbolizing a desire for peace coupled with a readiness for defense. The inscriptions on this side include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR," alongside the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
