2014 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle BU
Introduced in 1986, the American Gold Eagle series has become a cornerstone of modern coinage. This 2014 edition, containing one-tenth of an ounce of gold, carries on a tradition of exquisite artistry. The United States Mint guarantees the weight and purity of this five-dollar denomination piece, which is struck in a brilliant uncirculated finish. The front of the coin features a celebrated design adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens' historic Gold Double Eagle. It depicts Lady Liberty standing tall, holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, with the warm rays of a rising sun beaming behind her. The reverse side, created by Miley Busiek, presents a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight, returning to a nest that shelters a female and their young. This reverse design also includes the traditional inscriptions 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' alongside the coin's weight and face value.
