2014-W 1/4 oz Proof American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)
Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this 2014 gold coin represents a modern continuation of classic American numismatic art. The piece is minted with a quarter ounce of gold, featuring a brilliant, mirrorlike proof finish that highlights the contrast between the frosted design elements and the polished fields. The obverse side displays a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty. She stands majestically, holding a lit torch in one hand to represent enlightenment and an olive branch in the other as a symbol of peace. This design is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The year 2014 and the word LIBERTY are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, the coin features a detailed family scene of bald eagles. A male eagle is depicted in flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young eaglets wait. This side also displays the denomination of 10 DOLLARS, the gold weight, and the traditional mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
