This 2015 silver issue marks the inaugural release in a six-part series dedicated to dramatic narratives from the Bible. Struck from two troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver, the coin features a rimless, high-relief format that gives the design an impressive, sculptural depth. An antique finish is applied to the surface, highlighting the intricate details of the engraving and lending the piece an ancient, weathered appearance. The reverse side presents a powerful scene based on Gustave Doré's famous illustration depicting the destruction of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea. The composition captures the churning waters crashing over the Egyptian soldiers and their horses, while Moses and the fleeing Israelites are visible on the distant shore. Each coin has its unique production number, ranging from 1 to 1499, permanently laser-etched directly onto its edge. On the obverse, the coin displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Raphael Maklouf. Surrounding the effigy are clear inscriptions detailing the issuing authority of Niue, the face value of two dollars, the year 2015, and the weight and purity of the precious metal, which reads as 2oz 999 FINE SILVER.
