2015 5 oz Silver ATB Homestead MS-69 DMPL PCGS (FirstStrike®)
In 2015, the United States Mint released a remarkably large five-ounce silver coin honoring the Homestead Act of 1863. This modern quarter dollar, struck from 0.999 fine silver, measures far larger than a standard circulating coin, allowing its detailed artwork to be appreciated on a grand scale. This particular specimen is certified in outstanding Mint State 69 condition, featuring a Deep Mirror Prooflike finish that contrasts highly reflective fields with frosted details. The obverse of the coin displays the classic portrait of George Washington, a familiar image designed by John Flanagan. Surrounding the first president's likeness are the traditional inscriptions denoting the nation, the denomination of Quarter Dollar, and the core American values of Liberty and trust. On the reverse, the coin illustrates the fundamental necessities of pioneer life on the Great Plains. The imagery focuses on three pillars of homesteader survival: food, shelter, and water. These elements are accompanied by the inscriptions of Homestead, Nebraska, the year 2015, and the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum.
