The Australian Koala series, which began in 2007, is celebrated for its annually changing reverse designs that highlight one of Australia's most recognizable marsupials. On the 2015 edition of this one-ounce silver coin, the reverse features a detailed depiction of an adult koala nestled in the branches of a eucalyptus tree, set against a classic Australian bush landscape. This side also bears the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOALA" alongside the Perth Mint's "P" mint mark, the year 2015, and the coin's weight and 0.999 silver purity. The obverse of the coin displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials "IRB" appear beneath the portrait. Surrounding the likeness of the Queen are the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA", and the face value of "1 DOLLAR". Minted in brilliant uncirculated condition, this legal tender coin is fully backed by the Australian government.
